After School Robotics

This year we started Robotics as an after school activity in High School.  It was a pleasant surprise to see how many girls embraced the activity which is usually dominated by boys.

Students are using  Lego Mindstorms NXT kits to build robots and engage in object oriented programming. A new acquisition is ROBOTC which is based on the C language, to extend the students' programming skills.
As you can see on the video, robotics is about being persistent and challenging yourself. At this initial stage, students are exploring NXT robot design while using a light sensor to track a dark line on the floor.  The next step will be to develop group challenges and promote competitions.
