Graded's Response to the Tragedy in Santa Maria

On Tuesday of this week a concerned parent wrote to ask if the school planned to address the recent tragedy in Santa Maria.  He also offered ideas and resources he thought would empower Graded students to  stay safe in any crowded venue.  Within a few hours the high school leadership team decided to take action and contacted two members of our faculty - Mr. Amaral Cunha and Mr. Wayne Shackleford - and asked them to put together an information video highlighting best practices in an emergency.  Twenty four hours later Amaral and Shack had filmed, edited and produced a three-minute clip that we hope will give our students information that will increase awareness on how to avoid dangerous locations and how to react if caught in an emergency situation.  Thank you Shack and Amaral for your work.

  1. What a well summarized video with lots of useful tips! One additional piece of advice, is, if in the worse case scenario, your clothes catch on fire, it is important not to run, but to drop to the ground, cover your face with your hands, and roll. This cuts air to the flames, and helps put them out. Remember to: STOP, DROP and ROLL.
