Students participate on COP19 Virtual Town Hall Video Conference

A group of IB SL Physics students from Mr Cross' class participated in COP19 Virtual Town Hall Video Conference. The event was organized by Taking IT Global in conjunction with the UN Climate Change Conference  being held now in Warsaw, Poland. Through the video conference, students are connected with schools around the world, experts and College students on the ground from the Conference of Youth in Warsaw.

Parallel with the video conference, the Twitter hashtag #globalencounters was collecting questions and comments from the students. Our Graded school group tweeted from cellphones and were able to see the Twitter stream in a separate projector which was also used for just in time research on topics brought up in the conference like the oil sands in Canada. The Storify slideshow below shows some of the tweets from #globalencounters. Graded students were very excited to get their twitter questions answered live.

The next step for all the students in the IB Physics SL classes will be to revisit the #globalencounters stream, as well as #cop19, for a closer look on resources, questions , issues and expert connections. This work was a partnership between Mr Cross and the HS Academic Technology Coordinator, Mrs Meneghini.
